A year end readiness assessment evaluates your organization’s preparedness for year-end and charts a course for the future.

With 2025 quickly approaching, you may be starting to think about your year-end close in Sage Intacct. Whether this is your first year using Sage Intacct and you’re looking to increase the efficiency of your year-end on your new system or haven’t reviewed a release since 2015 and want to evaluate if your Sage Intacct environment is aligned for growth, we can help.

A year end readiness assessment offers a structured approach to evaluating your organization’s preparedness for year-end and the new year and charts a course for the months to come. We approach assessments in three phases: Sage Intacct configuration review, year-end close training, and release review to help you make the most of your technology investment.

Review Your Sage Intacct configuration

The first step in evaluating your year-end readiness is to make sure Sage Intacct is configured to support your needs. This involves a thorough review of each module’s configuration.

Often reviewing configurations will reveal the root cause of issues like an AP subledger not reconciling to the General Ledger. A simple configuration change — enabling the AP account as a control account by checking the “disallow direct posting” checkbox for example — can prevent manual journal entries made to the AP account, thus preventing future reconciliation issues. This proactive approach helps save time and resolve obstacles caused by configuration issues before they become larger problems.

Your Sage Intacct experienced consultant will provide input on recommendations for each module, including any new releases since your initial Go-Live. Along with reviewing each module’s configurations, we’ll also review your financial reports, users and permissions, 1099 report, and audit reports. Once the Sage Intacct review is completed, you’ll receive recommendations for your system’s configuration.

Year-end close training for confidence and efficiency

The second step in the assessment is providing your team the tools and training they need to approach year-end confident and prepared. To that end, we provide training on how to reconcile subledgers, identifying common culprits of discrepancies along the way, how to easily prepare a new budget template, update 1099 information for vendors and print or e-file 1099s, manage users and permissions, and finally how to close the books. Armed with these tools, your team will approach year-end with confidence and ease.

Releases and enhancements

Lastly, during our review of your Sage Intacct configuration, we’ll also note any relevant releases to improve processes and help to make your team more efficient. For example, if bank reconciliations are still being performed manually, we may recommend considering bank feeds with matching rules and transaction templates to expedite your month-end process. Reviewing releases notes with your specific configurations in mind helps make the most of your Sage Intacct investment now and in the future.
