The IRS is releasing over 50,000 ERC payments in the coming weeks with more planned payments for low-risk claims in the fall.
There’s very welcome news for organizations still waiting on employee retention credit (ERC) payments. The IRS last week announced it’s releasing over 50,000 payments in the coming weeks with more planned payments for low-risk claims in the fall.
Background on ERC claims and moratorium
In September 2023, the IRS initiated a moratorium on processing ERC new claims so it could digitize and review queued claims and investigate high-risk claims.
Those investigations continue but to balance the delays, the IRS last week said it recognized the importance of prioritizing and processing claims for small businesses and employers with low-risk claims who are legitimately awaiting funds.
The agency also announced it’s processing claims filed during the moratorium. Learn more in our latest ERC article.
