Every October, cooperatives across the country celebrate co-op month. This year’s theme, The Future is Cooperative, is an opportunity to engage coop members, customers, employees, and the public about the cooperative difference.

As our world continues to evolve, cooperatives will continue to work together to build a better future for everyone — as they have for decades. From farmer coops to worker coops, credit unions to mutual insurance, and housing coops to energy coops, cooperative businesses thrive across the U.S. economy, where one in three people are coop members.

As we celebrate you this month, think about the principles and values that guide your cooperative and how these values set you apart from other business models. Evaluate how your cooperative can continue to meet the economic, social, and cultural needs of your members and your community in an ever-changing, dynamic environment.
