The power of association.
The 2023 APPFA professional development conference brings insights from retirement system professionals, panel discussions with peers, and networking opportunities. The conference assembles experts to share leading practices and discuss audit programs and audit techniques specific to our environment.
Conference speakers include the administrator from the Arizona Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS) and the director from the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Some of the conference topics include third-party risks, investment topics, data analytics, audit management software, ethics, information technology, and the ever-popular roll call of the states.

How Internal Audit & External Audit Can Work Together

While internal audit and external audit are separate and distinct in their respective roles, responsibilities, and duties, there can be benefits from regular communication.
Join us for an interactive panel as we discuss the advantages of coordination and collaboration, along with some challenges that may arise, between internal and external audit in public pension systems.
Data Visualization for Pension Systems

This session will provide information on how to apply data analytics and use data visualization in pension systems. Topics will include a brief overview of data analytics, data analytics tools used for business intelligence and data engineering, and practical applications for pensions.
Attendees will learn how to apply data analytics to better visualize and understand benefit payments, refunds, census data, contributions, employer reporting and internal investment trading.
