Whit Forehand

Overview

Whit has 35 years of accounting experience, focusing exclusively on construction and related issues since 1993. His specific areas of focus include financial statement analysis, construction tax strategy, surety bonding issues, claim documentation and consultation, accounting-related litigation support, and merger and acquisition consultation.  Prior to joining CLA, Whit was the founder and managing partner of Forehand & Associates, a public accounting firm focused exclusively on the construction industry.  Prior to this, he was partner in charge of the Florida office for DGLF CPAs and Business Advisors (Davidson, Golden, Luncy & Forehand), a CPA firm which also focused exclusively on the construction industry.

Whit has written and spoken extensively on construction accounting issues, and is the author of over 20 articles on construction accounting.  Whit serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Construction Accounting and Taxation.  Whit serves as a Subject Matter Expert for CFMA publications, and is the author of two chapters of the Construction Controller’s Manual published by RIA Thomson Reuters.  Whit is a frequent speaker on construction accounting topics and served on the AICPA National Construction Committee from 2014 to 2017.

Whit performs claim documentation for public and private entities throughout the United States.  Whit has been accepted as an expert in construction accounting matters in both Federal Court and numerous State Courts.  He has worked on large multi-party claims for several Fortune 500 companies including GE, Siemens and Honeywell. He helped speed the settlement in most cases and assisted all sides in reaching a clear understanding of the costs and financial issues involved.
