Overview
Brian is the Northeast Regional Tax Leader for CLA (covers New England & MidAtlantic growth networks - DMV, Philly, NJ/NY, CT, RI & MA)
Tax principal at CLA with over 30 years of experience in professional services, including 6 years in the Big Four. Brian has predominately concentrated on serving private companies and their management/owners in tax accounting, tax compliance & tax planning matters. Throughout his career, he has represented clients with multi-entity, multi-state and international operations.
- Strong corporate tax background working with various type of legal entities: corporations, S-corporations, general and limited partnerships, LLCs, LLPs, and business trusts in various industries such as manufacturing, wholesale and distribution, resale, construction, real estate and service providers.
- Income tax accounting provisions (ASC-740/FIN-48)
- Individual, gift, trust and estate tax planning
- Focus on tax compliance for businesses, individuals, estates/gifts/ trusts, including special reporting matters related to bankruptcy and receiverships such as qualified & designated settlement funds.
- Tax advisory services to clients and has represented taxpayers in IRS and state tax audits.
- Examples of projects include: C to S corporate conversions, research and development studies, ownership change/net operating loss limitation studies, sale of business tax modeling, T&E deductibility studies, accounting for income tax reporting (GAAP/IFRS/UTPs), accounting methods review, and choice of business entity selection.
- Other specialty projects include business owner(s) buy-side and sell-side sale of business transaction advisory services; represented private company owner(s) in shareholder dispute cases, including expert witness testimony in court of law and out-of court mediation hearings
