Elly Barrineau

Overview

I am a business professional with 20 years of experience working in Consulting/Advisory, Accounting, and Audit. At the helm of CLA's Carolinas operations, my focus is on empowering our people to foster opportunities that benefit our clients and the broader CLA family. Strategic growth and client relationship enhancement are at the core of our regional success, shaped by my leadership as the former Chief Consulting and Outsourcing Officer.

With a specialized skill set in SEC filings and US GAAP, my approach integrates rigorous compliance with innovative strategies to manage risks effectively. This blend of expertise, alongside a passion for community engagement, propels our mission to deliver integrated solutions that drive business performance and client success.

Prior to my current role, I had the privilege of serving as CLA's Chief Consulting and Outsourcing Officer, helping serve and manage over 2,000 Consulting & Outsourcing professionals as they work to serve their clients and communities.

I have also served as the Managing Principal of CLA’s Advisory practice (SAS) assisting our teams serving our clients with advisory services.

Prior to joining CLA, I worked in PwC’s Assurance services. I have an extensive background working on audits of multi-national companies applying US accounting standards. I also have a background in providing accounting and financial reporting technical advice to a diverse range of companies applying both US and international accounting standards.

During that time I completed a 2 year tour in the Accounting Services Group within National Professional Services Group (National office) specializing in accounting for business combinations, discontinued operations, segment reporting, goodwill, impairment, consolidation (including variable interest entities), joint venture accounting, investments accounted for under the equity method, asset retirement obligations, fair value, and restructuring.

During my tour I was an active participant in the global network that was focused on interpreting IFRS. I was also a regular contributor to the firm's thought leadership including Global Guide to Business Combinations, Dataline, M&A Snapshot, Similarities and Differences, Quarter Close, Technical Updates, and various other publications.

I also completed a 2.5 year tour in Amsterdam, Netherlands. During that time, I was responsible for the audit of a European component of a US based and listed Fortune 150 client.

I am a Certified Public Accountant in the state of North Carolina and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
