CLA Talks: Harrison Coerver Discusses Association Membership Trends

In the first installment of a four-part series, consultant and bestselling author Harrison Coerver talks about the “new normal’ for associations and membership organizations, including the convergence of trends that created the new environment, and the imperative for changes to the traditional association model.

In this 10-minute clip, Coerver suggests ways associations can optimize their assets, resources, and capabilities. He uses case studies and touches on critical strategic concepts like building on strengths, concentrating resources, and lean thinking.

The talk took place at CLA’s National Association Conference, which attracted association leaders from across the country.

Coerver is president of Harrison Coerver & Associates, an internationally recognized association consulting firm specializing in strategy and planning for trade associations, professional societies, and other tax-exempt membership organizations. He is the co-author of the American Society of Association Executives’ bestselling books Race for Relevance: 5 Radical Changes for Associations, and its sequel, Road to Relevance: 5 Strategies for Competitive Associations.
